Extruders & Pug Sealers
Scalable, more cost-effective continuous shaping for bulk raw materials
Steele manufactures a complete line of stiff extruders and pug sealers, with production capacities ranging from 5-120 TPH.
These machines run in operations all over the world. Metals producers use them to agglomerate and pelletize metallurgical by-products for engineered feedstock. Brick, block and tile manufacturers use them to shape clays and shales.
Stiff extrusion is ideal for a wide range of plastic and non-plastic materials, requiring minimal added water. Our machines agglomerate and extrude a shaped product with superior strength and structural integrity right out of the die.
The addition of our 3EX laboratory extruder gives you more cost-effective research & development. It’s designed and engineered for fast evaluations of material mixes and extruded products.
All Steele machines are available with plant and application engineering, plus global technical support, parts and service.
Steele extruders have hydraulic die changers and hinged mouthpieces for quick changes and cleaning.

Laboratory and test plant services for metallurgical feedstock development
We test various mill by-products for processing and continuous shaping. Our engineers and technicians develop feedstock for furnace operators, with lab-scale testing of 5kg up to 20 TPH in our test plant.
High-shear mixing and de-airing
Our pug sealers use high-shear mixing and de-airing for a homogenous blend. This eliminates differential coloring in clay and shales blends. It also eliminates voids in extruded pellets or briquettes, ensuring consistent feedstock performance.
We combine a large, open pug tub with an enclosed sealing auger section for superior pugging. The sealing core, sealing die, shredder and auger sections are split for easy mounting and economical replacement.
Extrusion dies for products and material processing
We deliver complete shaping solutions that include our in-house die design and manufacturing. We continue to develop new die designs and advanced, wear-resistant materials. All Steele extruders accept a wide range of dies for continuous shaping.
Steele extruders are ideal for production of block with void areas up to 60%
High-shear mixing and de-airing produce a denser, more homogenous blend with superior green strength.
Steele extruders agglomerate materials <3mm for furnace feedstock
Steele offers a more cost-effective way to produce furnace feedstock, with less binder and more shaping options.
